Compassion, for self, is key.
This toolkit is comprised of various resources that have and are still helping me learn Sustainability on this Journey of eating Salt Oil Flour Alcohol Sugar Free(SOFAS Free) Whole Food Plant Exclusive or Sober Eating. I decided to name this toolkit Sober Eating as a nod to the Addiction component of my journey (Refined Food Addict).
I spent over 26 yrs trying countless diet plans and they ALL seemed to have 1 thing in common: They ALL seem to be based on an idea of “Perfection”. Do you recognize the following? – Follow this “plan” to the letter. Get THE RESULTS. And if we fail? It’s because we didn’t follow THE PLAN. These kinds of Cookie Cutter Programs didn’t help, they actually left me feeling worse about myself. So, I set out to find a Live-It (instead of a Die-It, I’m not dying, I’m Living), that would bring me a Peace of Mind and release me from Processed Food Cravings, while keeping a Focus on Compassion for myself and my Unique Life experiences.
And along the way, I discovered there is F.R.E.E.D.O.M. in the Journey. As a Strategy to Sustainably eat SOFAS Free (Salt Oil Flour Alcohol Sugar Free) Whole Food Plant Exclusive, I created F.R.E.E.D.O.M., a 7-step Signature Process.
This has given me my Life back! I’ve gone from (and perhaps you’ve experienced these as well):
Has this been easy? Absolutely NOT. Has it been worth the hard work, particularly on myself? Most Definitely. And I’m continuing to Keep Pushing, one bite at a time. Since discovering SOFAS Free (Salt Oil Flour Alcohol Sugar Free) Whole Food Plant Exclusive eating in 2017, I’ve had several unsuccessful attempts at Sustainability, but I JUST couldn’t forget the Peace of Mind I experienced whenever my body started beating the cravings. So Jan. 6, 2020, I decided to give myself another, fighting chance. I’m so Happy I did!
Now, my Mission is to Empower Others to Overcome challenges and obstacles, like I have and still do, so that they may Also Sustainably eat SOFAS Free Whole Food Plant Exclusive and experience F.R.E.E.D.O.M. from Cravings, and a Peace Of Mind, like I do.
I invite you to Invest in Yourself and am Happy to help Support You on Your Journey.

“My name is Fonda Kitt Muhammad, and I too am a recovering refined food addict. And although I have been a vegan for 10 years, I am finally ready to admit, I was not making healthy choices. I had gained 30 pounds in the last two years. Went from 134 pounds to 164 pounds and was miserable, fed up, and determined to take control of my life. Then, I read your story. You are an absolute inspiration to me. I read one of your posts in the plant based group on FB. A month later, my 28 year old daughter and I started our No SOFAS journey. We agreed to make it a 90-day journey, and today marks day number 50. I have lost a total of 20 pounds, and the inflammation that used to cause my sciatic nerve to flare up has subsided. Just wanted to thank you for sharing your story. It has inspired me to take control of my life. Because of you, I am . . . eating to live, not living to eat, thinking more clearly, procrastinating less, pain free, carrying less weight, I can go on and on, but I will stop with one last thought. With 40 more days left to this No SOFAS journey that my daughter and I are on, I honestly don’t want to stop. Thank you for having the courage to share your story. It has encouraged me to want to share mine.”
“Thank you so much! Excellent information and tips – I want you to know that because I found you on FB – I’m currently on day 10 of SOSF free and down about 8 lbs.
Thank you for your inspiration and willingness to share your journey.” K.B.

“Your journey is so inspiring, you motivated me to start eating this way. I’m on Day 4 and thanks to you, I’m staying encouraged.” Q.L.
“I needed to see your story, thank you! I’m on week 3 of being SOFAS Free WFPB and still neuroadapting..looking forward to a calm brain and not being obsessed with food.” W.C.
“Evon’s transparency gives me an inside look at how she’s continuing to sustainably eat this way..which in turn gives me hope that I can do this as well” C.L.
“I appreciate Evon’s experience w/ the topic of mental illness and her willingness to talk about it and how it relates to how she eats, despite so many looking at it as taboo…she reminds me I’m not alone.” G.R.
“She’s REAL. I like how she reminds us we’re human, I appreciate the reminder when I have less than perfect days.” E.S.

Reading this book, as a start, has helped me understand that the human brain is hard-wired to desire the most calorie-rich food in our environments, that consumption of added Salt, Oil, Flour, Alcohol and refined Sugar(SOFAS), for me, a Refined Food Addict in Recovery, trigger overeating and all the painful side effects that come with that(foggy brain, low energy, inflammation, allergic reactions, poor sleep, exhaustive constant thinking about “food”/next fix, various health diseases-hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, weight gain/bloating, etc.). After reading this book I understand these desires and impulses are not my fault, and as a Refined Food Addict in Recovery, this battle w/ what my brain is hardwired to do, has nothing to do with my will power, discipline or intake moderation of Salt, Oil, Flour, Alcohol & refined Sugar. I don’t do moderation well of any of these substances, hence the Refined Food Addict distinction. Abstaining from these substances is the “lifestyle medicine” I must “take”, to avoid the negative consequences mentioned above.
When I first started researching preparing my food from scratch and eating “unprocessed” and added Salt, Oil, Flour and refined Sugar Free, I came across Chef AJ and the term she uses, SOFAS Free. As a Refined Food Addict and OverEater in Recovery herself, I am able to resonate w/ her story and informative approach to Recovery. I have and often refer to both of the books above.
In the spirit of Full Transparency, I only just started teaching myself to cook meals from scratch at the beginning of 2017. I currently use this set, the first official nonstick cookware set I’ve ever purchased. It does a great job, particularly because I don’t use oil in my cooking.
I use a wood cutting board like these in my home.
A simple manual juicer does the job for my recipe purposes.
This cooling rack proves to be very handy for oil-free baking, as it’s easy for food not to stick as much on the rack vs a casserole dish or flat surface dish/pan.
This is the first blender I’ve purchased and it’s proven to be an excellent investment for my recipe needs.
This is the first processor I’ve purchased and it’s also proven to be an excellent investment for my recipe needs.
This is one salt substitute I use when preparing dishes and I’ve noticed the more my brain and palate neuroadapts to eating SOFAS Free Whole Food Plants Exclusively, the more this substitute really behaves in the same way now, as salt has, as a seasoning, in my dishes in the past.
This is the other salt substitute I use when preparing dishes and is easy to find in most grocery stores.
This is my go-to Salt, Oil and refined Sugar Free mustard to use.
For Salt, Oil and refined Sugar Free Salad Dressings, Ketchup, BBQ sauce, Sriracha sauce and more, click on the following link:https://wellyourworld.com?aff=22 I’ve ordered and enjoyed the use of their ketchup, bbq sauce and Sriracha sauce. When I make the time, I do prefer to just make my own SOS Free sauces from scratch.
When I first started transitioning and didn’t know about the SOS Free Well Your World sauces and was still figuring out which SOS Free ketchup and BBQ recipes I liked, w/ careful label reading to determine the salt content, I have used the above in a pinch, as they are increasingly found in more and more grocery stores. Though they are refined Sugar and Oil Free, they do have a small amount of added salt in them. Purchase and use at your own risk, with full knowledge the Primal Kitchen products listed above do contain added sodium.
For Salt, Oil and refined Sugar Free Hot Sauce (Pineapple Lime and it’s VERY hot), click on the following link: https://bemaandpas.com/sauces-pineapple-lime-sauce-p-243.html
When I’m creating an SOS Free BBQ sauce, I either use roasted grapes or the above Polaner All Fruit Spreadable sweetened ONLY w/ Fruit Juice.
This is an Oil and Refined Sugar Free plant milk I use when I haven’t made my own. The sodium content is the lowest I’ve seen in any plant milk thus far and according to the ingredients, the sodium contained therein seems to be what’s naturally in the soybeans as the ingredients don’t reflect added sodium.
This is my go-to Salt, Oil and refined Sugar Free Veggie stock I use when I haven’t made my own.
The Oats I use in various dishes I create.
The Flaxseed Meal I use in various dishes I create.
My fav Smoked Paprika go-to.
The Vegan Women’s Daily Multivitamin that I take.
